Phonak – The renowned Swiss manufacturer of quality hearing aids based in the UK at Warrington, Cheshire.

At Digital Hearing Care we really like Phonak hearing aids, they invest heavily in research and development so their hearing aid technology is amongst the best available. This in conjunction with their renowned build quality and excellent customer services means when we supply Phonak we just know the results are going to be good. Digital Hearing Care have been selected by Phonak as a Premium Partner, this means enhanced service levels and priority treatment when it comes to the service and aftercare of your hearing aids.

In 2017, Phonak launched their new sound processing platform known as Belong. This replaced their previous Venture platform and promises faster processing and an advanced sound quality. The Belong platform has been applied to all of the models in the Phonak range of hearing aids and has also led to the development of some new and innovative models.

First let’s take a look at the models that are currently available from Phonak.

Bolero B – Available as BTE (Behind The Ear)

The Bolero offers a standard BTE, Power BTE, Micro BTE and Micro Power BTE.

The Bolero comes in 4 technology levels B90, B70, B50 and B30. This is currently Phonak’s most advanced BTE technology, it has replaced the V90, 70, 50 and 30 models and offers a wide choice of colours.

Virto B – Available as:

  • ITE (In The Ear)
  • ITC (In The Canal)
  • CIC (Completely In Canal)
  • IIC (Invisible In Canal) – Also referred to as the Virto B Titanium

The Virto B is available in 4 technology levels, B90, B70, B50 and B30. The Phonak Belong range has replaced the custom V90, 70, 50 and 30 models and also comes in a variety of colours.

Audeo B – Available as RIC (Receiver In Canal)

The Audeo B has 6 variations of RIC

  • Audeo B-13 – Wireless option with a telecoil and a toggle volume control
  • Audeo B-312 – Cosmetic, wireless option
  • Audeo B-312T – Cosmetic wireless option with Telecoil
  • Audeo B-10 – Very cosmetic wireless option
  • Audeo B-R – Rechargeable option ie no need to replace batteries!
  • Audeo B-Direct – The world’s first hearing aid to connect directly to all flavours of bluetooth mobile phone!

The Audeo B offers 4 technology levels to suit different hearing needs, B90, B70, B50 and B30. The Phonak Audeo B is currently Phonak’s top level of RIC technology and has replaced the previous Audeo V range. It has a number of colour options to choose from.

Naida V – Available as:

  • BTE (Behind The Ear)
  • RIC (Receiver In Canal)

The Phonak Naida V is a range of super power hearing aids designed for people with a more severe hearing loss who may need some extra power. It is available in 4 technology levels, V90, V70, V50 and V30. It also offers a selection of colour options. The Naida V is Phonak’s highest level of super powered hearing aid technology and has directly replaced the Naida Q range.

CROS B – (Contralateral Routing Of Signal). Available as:

  • BTE (Behind The Ear)
  • ITE (In The Ear)

The CROS system is designed for those who have a completeor unaidable loss of hearing in one ear. There are two versions of this hearing aid; CROS – If you have perfect hearing in the working ear, and BICROS – If you also have a hearing loss in the working ear. A transmitter in your non-hearing ear will pick up the sound from that side and wirelessly send it to a device in the hearing ear so you can hear normally.

 

Buyer Beware! – Some companies will still try to sell older hearing aid models so for your reference, here is a list of Phonak models that have been superseded.

  • Virto V, Virto Q
  • Audeo V, Audeo Q
  • Bolero V, Bolero Q
  • Naida Q range

If you don’t see the name on this list it’s likely to be even older than the previous generation.

Features – Some of the features on the new Belong range will be familiar to previous Phonak users as they have simply been upgraded and improved. There are also a number of innovative new features designed to make your listening experience even better.

Let’s take a look at the main features available in the Belong range of hearing aids.

Please note that not all features listed below are available on all models. For more specific feature information, please refer to our individual product pages.

The Belong range of hearing aids offer up to 20 Channels, depending on which model you choose. Each channel processes a range of frequencies.

For those who suffer from tinnitus, some of these models offer the new Tinnitus Balance Sound Generator. This helps to relieve the annoying symptoms by masking the sound.

Two more of Phonak’s newest features are Acclimatisation Manager and Speech in Wind. These detect different aspects of your environment and adjust automatically.

There are also a range of features designed to keep out any noises or sounds that you don’t want to hear so the ones you do are much clearer. These include Whistleblock, Echoblock, Windblock and Noiseblock. There is also Ultrazoom, Stereozoom and Autozoom which help to enhance the noise cancelling and speech enhancement.

Wireless – Keeping with today’s demand for wireless connectivity, most Phonak hearing aids are compatible with their range of wireless accessories. These allow you to connect to various everyday devices such as televisions or mobile phones. Within this range is the DECT II, ComPilot, TV Link, RemoteMic and PilotOne.
