Hello Paul, I have now had 2 weeks or so experience of using my new Phonak Nano hearing aid and thought I should let you know just how pleased I am with this latest device.
Until I received this "gadget" I had been well satisfied with with the performance of my older hearing aid and accepted the fact that the appearance was probably as "discreet" as I could hope to expect for any hearing aid albeit quite expensive in comparison with other admittedly much more oestentatious models.
The new hearing aid is aesthetically fantastic, effectively, in fact, invisible and, nothwithstanding it's compactness, is brilliantly effective in it's sound transmission. I am honestly genuinely delighted and also surprised at the comparitive reduction in price with my original, now seemingly old fasioned "aid" in the other ear which hopefully in time I may be able to afford to replace with a new Nano.

These enable me to use the phone normally as
sound is transmitted through the dome fitted into my ear (my hearing loss
was not so bad that I could not use the phone). In addition I can actually
use my stethoscope without having to remove the hearing aids at all,
essential in todays infection control climate.
But probably most importantly I can actually hear more of what the patients
and other staff say in a very noisy and distracting environment. Ensuring I
do not miss any vital bits of information which could help with the patients
care.
One area where I noticed that my aids needed adaption was when using my
stethoscope and although I could hear the stethoscope (amplified one) I
could also hear all the external noises. Paul quickly solved this by adding
a simple mute function on my aid which proved extremely helpful.

which you have dealt with my needs.

Thought I’d write to you to say how happy I am with these Phonak hearing aids you supplied to me and to say thankyou for your excellent after care service.
I am 21 years old and was born with around a 50% hearing loss. I started to wear hearing aids in secondary school. These were supplied to me by the NHS but I was never happy with them. I had to take them out in loud places and ended up not wearing them very often. This did cause problems when in lessons as I struggled to hear but also couldn’t wear the aids as all they picked up was the background noise from the other people in the class. I also got teased for not being able to hear very well. When I started University I was forced to wear the aids permanently but I was never very confident talking in large groups of people as I wouldn’t be able to hear individuals very well with all the background noise. Even though I did manage to get an upgrade with the aids, they still were unable to keep up with my lifestyle.
In my first year of university I took up skydiving, a sport which I’m still
doing at a professional level today. I immediately was faced with various
problems. As the aids were over the ear, the first problem I encountered was
wearing the skydiving helmets. They wouldn’t fit me very well and if they
did the aids would dig into my ears. Obviously as a dangerous sport I
couldn't take my aids out as I needed to hear at all time. Every time I took
my helmet off my aids would be pulled off, I even nearly lost one in the
plane just before I jumped out, but luckily someone found it in time! I also
found that sometimes the aids would turn themselves off in the plane during
the climb to altitude or when I was under canopy, so sometimes I was unable
to hear the exit count (what we do before we jump out of the plane). The
noise when under canopy was sometimes unbearable as the aids seemed to pick
up all the background noise of the wind, sometimes this hurt my ears to a
point where I would decide not to jump. The rise to altitude and the
pressure changes did seem to affect the way the aids worked as well.
Sometimes they would stop working for days at a time, which left me
struggling to hear.
As I wanted to start competing at a national level, these problems needed to be sorted. I searched around and I found Paul. He came the same day he was called and within a few weeks the aids had arrived! I couldn’t believe how much hearing I missed with my old hearing aids. The new Phonaks were in the ear aids so the problem of wearing a helmet immediately was solved. The sound quality was amazing, I couldn’t believe how much I didn’t actually hear, it immediately made me a much more confident person and I hear as well as everyone else now. These aids are able to withstand the climb to altitude and they have never once stopped working when on the plane or under canopy. They don’t pick up all the wind noise and never have fallen out. It made my life so much easier and I don’t have to worry about losing them or damaging them when skydiving, my progression in the sport I love, I think is due to these aids. Since having them I’ve competed in a national team, where we won a bronze medal. I am competing again this year at a higher level. The confidence these aids gave me made such an incredibly difference to my life and my sport. I have even taken up skiing, something I always wanted to do but never was confident enough to so as I thought I wouldn’t be able to hear anything.
I can’t thank Paul enough for everything; he goes above and beyond with his aftercare service. My life has improved so much since having the new hearing aids.

Hi Paul,
Just back from our short break. Yes the new Oticon Agil Pro's have worked well during our holiday. When out with the dog on the cliff path, I suddenly heard the sound of a skylark high up nearby. It was competing with another bird which I was also able to distinguish. I had not heard a skylark already in the sky, unless pointed out to me, for several years. That was an excellent test.
I have found the Oticon Agil Pro's better than the Deltas, particularly when in the car driving and having to listen to people all round. I have also heard better when out walking. I would indeed like to keep the new aids.

Wish to pass on my thoughts as a newcomer to hearing aids which may assist other aid purchasers.
1. I found the instruction booklet useful as a reference, although you did cover most of it verbally.
2 Phonak website has page 'How to train your hearing' which is very helpful.
3 After a little while of wearing the aids you do not appreciate their effect and feel that they have not improved your hearing. Can I suggest that after say 6/7 weeks, or as appropriate, that you request clients to check the improvement by switching off the aids when in a stable sound environment eg piece of music, television, or local pub. I have done this and the effect is remarkable - on switching off, voices and music 'dull', and understanding conversations become difficult.

It is now 9 months since you supplied me with these aids following my enquiry on the internet. I found your website by entering 'Hearing Aids West Yorkshire' on Google. I was impressed with your website and your swift reaction to my enquiry and your advice on recommending Phonak to improve my particular problem.
I had delayed my decision to explore the world of hearing aids following remarks such as "a complete waste of money" or "they all end up in the bedroom drawer".

Some might say it was 'third time lucky!' but I really don't think luck came into it! In praise of Widex Passion!
I had been suffering from gradual hearing loss for quite a few years, waiting for the NHS to fit me with hearing aids – when they came they were a great disappointment because they were rather uncomfortable and looked very ugly and very obvious. So, I didn't wear them!
Some months went by, and in the summer I went on holiday with my children and grandchildren – everyone was noisy and happy, but I had a hard time getting the gist of all the jokes when they were all eating together, then playing games around the big family table.
When the children came back to visit me in the autumn my eldest son took me to the side and said to me 'Mum, we all think things can't go on like this, you're not joining in our conversations any more, you look increasingly 'cut off'. If you agree, I'll get on my computer and sort out an appointment with an audiologist.'
The next morning Paul Minikin (from Digital Hearing Care) was there with a big smile and a big array of lovely looking hearing aids – Paul tested my hearing thoroughly and we both thought Widex Passion 115 was the best option for me.
It has definitely changed my life for the better, in all kinds of situations. Social gatherings, meetings of all sorts, Yoga and Pilates classes, circle dancing, concerts etc.
At home I can listen to the news and music without turning the volume up and disturbing the neighbours – I'm back in the real world!

Over the past few years my hearing has deteriorated, recently to the extent that I struggled to keep up with conversations. Having always been an outgoing, sociable person I began to lose confidence when in social situations.
I explored several web sites and found Digital Hearing Care. The web site was very informative and I contacted Paul Minikin.
It was very important to me that any aids were unobtrusive. Paul was sensitive to my concerns and reservations. After discussions, he suggested Phonak Audeo YES which were newly available.

As you know, I was quite reluctant to try OTE hearing aids, (pure vanity), but the moment I trialed the new Phonak Audeo Yes OTE I knew I had to have them.
I can't begin to tell you how how really pleased I am with the crystal clear sound, and the clarity of my own voice compared to my old aid.
It gets even better because they are so discreet. I have a very short hairstyle and the aids are barely discernible.
Another aspect worth a mention is the clever way they reduce wind noise to a bare minimum. No more missed conversations there then.
So thank you Paul for sorting out one vain and very satisfied lady.

I found Pauls company after a web search and many phone calls to other practitioners.
My 4 year old grandson lives abroad and wears Phonak aids, which have to be purchased by his parents (unlike here where children get NHS units free). He regularly breaks them and needed replacements. Due to the extortionate cost in Dubai I searched to get a better deal here in the UK and I eventually contacted Paul.
His friendly nature and professional expertise was impressive and he couldn't have been more helpful. He came up with higher spec units by the same maker at a very reasonable price. He saved us a lot of money, programmed them up for us and personally delivered them (35 miles) whilst my grandson was on holiday with us, all within a week. We couldn't have asked for more.

I must admit Paul that I was sceptical. You have been there for me over the last few years but because of my type of hearing loss it has always been difficult for even the most expensive hearing aids to help when there is background noise. As you have said before I have only one good ear to help.
I can't believe it, I can have a conversation in the car, I can hear my husband with music in the background. Somehow the new aid seems to lessen the sounds I do not need to hear and speech is still quite clear. Even the television is a lot better, which you know I have always had problems with. The hearing aid is quieter and less harsh which has taken a bit of getting used to but I can still hear better. I know it's not perfect but even at this early stage I can honestly say this is the best yet!
I knew within ten minutes of you demonstrating the hearing aid I needed to find the money to buy one.

I'm a mid 50's male who was experiencing the usual age related reduction in high frequency hearing.
I'd had an audiogram done a few years earlier at the same time I had my glasses changed, so no prizes for guessing that it wasn't performed by an independent registered hearing aid dispenser! At that time I didn't feel that I would benefit from hearing aids, and to be honest, I think a degree of vanity may also have been involved in that decision.
However, a few weeks ago, I was in a car with some friends and realised that I couldn't hear conversations clearly and decided there and then that I needed to do something.
I checked on the internet to get some information on suppliers, products and prices. There was a lot of comment about the difference in service provided by an independent registered hearing aid dispenser and the big multiples. I did check out a couple of the big chains and found that their registered hearing aid dispenser only visited the shop once or at best twice a week. This was no use to me as my lifestyle is such that I spend a significant time away from home.
I searched further for a local independent registered hearing aid dispenser and found Paul Minikin at Digital Hearing Care in Keighley. One phone call and Paul was knocking on my door a few hours later. He performed the usual tests on me and confirmed the high frequency loss. We discussed how this could be addressed and immediately eliminated the "in ear" devices as my ear canals are too small. Paul then showed me the range of "receiver in canal" devices. I had never seen anything so miniaturised. A tiny microphone and amplifier sits behind the ear and a minute wire and speaker sit inside the ear canal.
After trying a range of different aids from different manufacturers I settled on the Widex Passion 115. Why this one? Well, so many factors but the clincher was the natural sound I felt that this model provided for me. It's also so tiny, comfortable to wear and effectively invisible so this also met my vanity requirements!
So an excellent product. But I also need excellent service. Paul has called every couple of weeks since the initial dispensing and has twice visited me at home, at times convenient to me, to make minor adjustments to the sound profile on the aids. I can now honestly say that I don't even realise I am wearing the aids until I stop and reflect on how clear my hearing is now.
So from me, its a resounding reference for the service Paul Minikin provides and utter amazement at the improvement provided by the Widex Passion 115.
I have been delighted with my aid during the 12 months I have had it, and I know my friend is equally delighted.
It is rare these days to receive such care and consideration, and such personal service.

I've beaten the hearing hurdle!
Hearing Loss? As we grow older we get smaller but the hurdles get bigger.
I have, thankfully, just conquered one. Not without help, I must add. Ask and you will receive.
Help came in the form of a tall handsome young man. Wonderful. Anything to do with hearing loss or hearing aids which Paul doesn't know about hasn't been invented yet.
I felt I must write to say what a difference the digital hearing aid has made to my life over the last two years.
I feel more confident socially and when in town shopping. Your advice and service you provide after purchase is first rate and reliable. A good hearing aid is not cheap but I have never regretted it - in fact I would be lost now without it.
Paul, I would like you to know how delighted I am with my Oticon Delta hearing aids.
I am hearing sounds which have escaped me for years, particularly clocks ticking and birds singing; the clarity of sound is especially noticeable.
In addition, I feel they are most comfortable to wear.

They have certainly made a big difference to my life, I can now hear things I haven't heard clearly for years, especially my music, wildlife sounds and many other sounds I had forgotten existed. I can now hear one to one conversations whilst in crowded places, without all the background noises which seems to be a big problem with many other aids.
Although it has taken quite a while to get everything to be right, the fit, the fine tuning etc. we got there in the end. I can't express my thanks to you Paul, for all your help, care, PATIENCE and PERSEVERENCE, nothing has been too much for you.
