Phonak launch the Audeo YES - Digital Hearing Care one of the first to supply (14/3/09)

As most of you will know by now at Digital Hearing Care we like to keep you abreast of the latest developments in hearing aid technology. As one of the leading independent hearing aid suppliers in the area we often receive preferential treatment when it comes to the launch of new products. The new Phonak Audeo YES hearing instrument is no exception as we are amongst the first in the country to be able to demonstrate this breakthrough technology.

The very latest thinking in research and development has been applied to this product to give exceptional performance in a really neat style with wireless connectivity to devices such as telephones, televisions and mobile phones.

It employs amongst many other features 'SoundRecover'. This feature enables you to hear those soft, hard to hear sounds that are important to speech understanding with a very natural sound quality.

The fitting range for the Audeo YES is very wide, in fact it can be fitted to nearly every type of hearing loss from very mild to very severe, all within the same award winning design and is available in three levels of technology with prices to match different budgets.

We have only been demonstrating and fitting this instrument for a few weeks as of mid March 2009, but the feedback has been very encouraging. Why not arrange a free demonstration and see what difference an Audeo YES can make to your quality of hearing.

Digital Hearing Care and BSHAA - Caring for the Customer (7/10/08)

Digital Hearing Care, in association with BSHAA (The British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists) have launched a new complaints resolution scheme, 'Caring for the Customer'. Of course, we want our services (supply and ongoing aftercare) to be excellent in every way. We also want to be seen to be totally transparent in our dealings with our customers.

Occasionally things can go wrong and those of you that have encountered 'mishaps' in your dealings with us will know we take customer care very seriously.

We like to think that, in the first instance, all our customers would know that if they have any issue with our service they only need to contact us directly for swift resolution. (The way we deal with problems actually exceeds the minimum standards set by the 'Caring for the Customer' scheme.)

However, as an extra layer of protection Digital Hearing Care have joined the new scheme launched by BSHAA to deal with problems that cannot be resolved at a local level. BSHAA can in such cases put you in touch with a Conciliation Officer, and ultimately to a binding Independent Arbitration at no cost to you the customer.

We do not expect any of our customers to have to resort to making use of this excellent service. Our participation in the scheme is more to give you the customer an extra layer of confidence in your dealings with Digital Hearing Care. If you require further information please contact us or BSHAA and we will send you a leaflet explaining the service. Alternatively you can click this link to download a sample of the leaflet (PDF format), Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the file.

Digital Hearing Care supports Hear the World (2/10/08)

Plácido Domingo, Annie Lennox and Rod Stewart are amongst the other Hear the World's Celebrity Ambassadors who have joined Phonak, a leading manufacturer of innovative hearing systems, to launch Hear the World, an initiative that raises awareness about the importance of hearing and the impact of hearing loss.

While hearing loss is one of the world's most preventable disabilities, it is also one of the most common. More than 10 percent of the world's population has a hearing loss, and it is estimated that by 2015, more than 700 million people will have some degree of hearing loss. The consequences of hearing loss can be severe and greatly affect the quality of life. The goal of the Hear the World initiative is to educate the public about the importance of good hearing, the social and emotional implications of hearing loss, and the available solutions for those with hearing loss.

In the context of the Hear the World initiative, Phonak has established the non-profit Hear the World Foundation to improve the quality of life of people with hearing loss through financial and technical assistance. The foundation is committed to the prevention of hearing loss as well as the support of people with hearing loss and their families.

"Today, hearing is not perceived as an important topic," says Valentin Chapero, CEO of Phonak. "With Hear the World, we want to put hearing on the agenda and start a social dialogue. Hear the World wants to activate people to think about their hearing, to think about what it means not to be able to hear well. We want to show the public what can be done to prevent hearing loss, as well as what can be done to minimize its social and personal impact."

Music is a universal language that goes beyond geographical, social and linguistic boundaries. It is the ideal medium to spread the message of Hear the World. Renowned musical artists are the perfect ambassadors for this important and emotional topic. Plácido Domingo and the Vienna Philharmonic share Phonak's commitment to making people around the world aware of how they can protect and support the vital sense of hearing.

As a hearing healthcare professional, Digital Hearing Care fully support the work and aim of the campaign and will continue to support the initiative by posting updates on the website and making information available.

Digital Hearing Care now an FM Approved Retailer (24/7/08)

Digital Hearing Care have been approved and recognised as a preferred partner for Phonak UK to retail their FM wireless hearing solutions.

Phonak in the UK are the market leader of the FM market.

FM systems are one of the best kept secrets as an addition to hearing aids to improve clarity of speech in the most difficult and challenging of environments.

Where hearing aids alone cannot give enough clarity, for example because the level of hearing loss is severe and/or the listening environments are very noisy, FM systems can bridge that clarity gap.

Phonak FM systems can be adapted to fit most 'behind the ear' hearing instruments and a lot of the 'in the ear' type too (from Phonak and other hearing aid manufacturers hearing aids). They are very discreet and give clear, consistent sound quality with a superb signal-to-noise ratio. (Signal-to-noise ratio compares the level of a desired signal (such as speech) to the level of background noise. The higher the ratio, the less obtrusive the background noise is).

Digital Hearing Care and KW Hamer Hearing Aids (1/2/08)

Digital Hearing Care are now looking after the interests of the hard of hearing public in the Dewsbury area of West Yorkshire.

Keith Hamer of KW Hamer Hearing Aids has decided to take life easier at the age of 65 due to recent health problems.

Keith had up until recently worked out of his practice in Dewsbury but with the building in need of repairs and the other matters mentioned above he thought it would be a good time to hand over the reins to another trusted local com pany with the same level of personal service and aftercare.

Keith tells me he has been working in Dewsbury for the last 25 years and the previous chap Keith replaced had been working there for 15 years before that!

We wish Keith well for the future.
